History of the Hummers
Hummers were originally built by AM General Corporation in Indiana USA and were built under contract for the United States Military. The Hum-vee was built in a variety of version as troop carriers, and to hold gun tunnets and radar.
In 1982, AM General built the first civilian versions of the Hum-vee under the brand name 'Hummer'.
In 1998 the brand name Hummer was sold to General Motors but AM General kept building the Hummers whilst GM took responsibility for the Marketing and Distribution of the Hummer. Soon after GM release two new models called the H2 and H3 and renamed the Hum-vee to the H1.
By 2006 the Hummer was being exported to 33 countries including Australia.
Hummers have since become popular as Stretch Limousines with many being converted to cater for the party crowds.
